Beginners and extract homebrewers Space limited to 12 students Beer Judging Course (CANCELLED) A multi-week course that introduces students to the finer points of evaluating beer. We’ll learn how to discern color, aroma, flavor and mouthfeel. We’ll also learn how to properly judge at a Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP)-registered competition. This class is designed for students who wish to eventually take the BJCP exam and/or judge in registered homebrewing competitions. Schedule: Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m., Ten weeks beginning Sept. 17, 2007 (class will meet on Wednesdays during the week of Sept. 24, Oct 8 and Oct 29) Lead Presenter: Peter Ausenhus, owner and brewer at Worth Brewing Company. Cost: $12 Students will be responsible for paying the cost of evaluation beers.
Location: Worth Brewing Company, 826 Central Ave., Northwood, IA All Grain Brewing We’ll learn how to transform grain to grist and then sweet wort on the way to a delicious brew. For: This is an advanced class designed for experienced brewers but anyone interested in the process of brewing is welcome to enroll. Schedule: Saturday, Spring date TBD 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
