We won the lottery!!!! We’re talking about the hop lottery organized by the Boston Beer Company, of course. BBC, maker of Sam Adams, set aside 20,000 pounds of imported German and English hops at cost to U.S. craft brewers to help weather the severe hop shortage. Some breweries are even in danger of closing so it wasn’t a surprise that 400 requested more than 100,000 pounds, thus necessitating the lottery. We received the news that Worth Brewing Company was the lucky recipient of 88 pounds of imported German Tettnanger hops. So think kindly of Sam Adams when you’re enjoying a German lager at Worth Brewing Company in 2008, and be sure to check out their tremendous range of beers. Peter’s favorite SA products: Sam Adams Boston Lager, Double Bock (good luck finding it in Iowa), Black Lager.
